Next Thursday many people will be sitting down with family and friends to a large turkey dinner to celebrate Thanksgiving.
However, one bird will be spared.

"Jive the turkey," who lives at a veterinary clinic in east Des Moines, Iowa, was found by a clinic client in a backyard.  Jive had severe injuries to his back, but doctors were able to nurse him back to health.

Now, he runs around as a pet with the cats and dogs inside the clinic.

"In the spring we thought about putting him out somewhere on a farm, then we realized he doesn't know he's a turkey," the veterinarian taking care of Jive said.

Jive even got a governor's reprieve this week to ensure he never becomes a holiday meal and the clinic has also applied for a presidential pardon.
