SHELBY CO., Ky. (WHAS11) -- Interstate 64 was closed at mile marker 36 westbound in Shelby County due to a semi  fire on the right shoulder for about two hours Thursday morning.

The fire happened just after 7 a.m. when the semi slammed into an abandoned car, shutting down both westbound lanes for a couple hours and causing traffic to back up for nearly three miles.

Police have yet to comment on the condition of the truck driver.
