LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A 17-year-old black male was arrested and charged with murder after a double shooting on the 2700 block of Grand Avenue in west Louisville. The man was also charged with attempted murder and tampering with physical evidence.
The victim's body was found inside a home around 9:30 Tuesday morning. A woman was also found shot at the home, but she was still alive. She was taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The coroner has identified the male shooting victim as 21-year-old Jesse Williams.
Karl Pryor has lived in the West Louisville neighborhood for 16 years. He was the first to respond when he heard the female crying across the street. When he approached the woman he noticed she was bleeding from her leg.
“I thought at first it was glass, like she cut herself,” said Pryor. “Then she said she didn’t know if she had been shot. I looked at her leg and she had two holes in it.”
Pryor says he has never seen the woman before and other neighbors believe the house was vacant.
"No one lived there. I never see anyone go in or go out, "says Daren Mobley.
Police say there was foot pursuit nearby the neighborhood around the same time the shooting was reported.
A juvenile was eventually arrested on unrelated charges. Police say the juvenile is a person of interest and police are looking for others who may be involved.
“We are talking to individuals that may have some information to this incident today as well as any tips we hope to get from neighbors that may of seen or heard anything this morning,” said Carey Klain, the Public Information Officer for Metro police.
The identity of the woman has not been released.
