(WHAS11) -- An Iroquois High School teacher is the suspected drunk driver involved in a deadly crash on Saturday.

Christopher Purcell was driving a Jeep that collided with a motorcycle at Bardstown Road and Strathmoor Boulevard.

The impact killed 31-year-old Tracy Blevins, a passenger on the bike. The driver of the motorcycle was not seriously hurt.

"I couldn't believe it was my neighbor cross the street Chris," said David Board.

Police arrested Purcell on DUI and manslaughter charges. The school district says he has been with JCPS since 1988. He has worked as a technical education teacher at Iroquois High School since 1994.

Board described his neighbor as a family man, "…very hardworking...great neighbor. I walk my dog and he walks his dog, and we see each other all the time. I've never known him to be anything but an outstanding citizen."

JCPS tells WHAS11 it is standard procedure to put a teacher on non-instructional duty if found to be in trouble with the law, but JCPS has not had any contact with Purcell yet.
