LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)—Friday night was special for a local hero that is retiring after 20 years of service.

Officer Steve Kelsey, an LMPD officer, got a meeting with a girl he helped save back in 2006.

9-year-old Erica Hughes attened Kelsey's retirement party at the Clifton Center Friday night. Kelsey drove Hughes to the hospital after she was shot multiple times in 2006.

The shooting happened in her home and her mother did not survive.

Erica wanted to once again honor the man who helped save her life as he retires from the force.
