(WHAS11) -- Police say the incident all started with a routine traffic stop. When the officer approached the suspect's window, the driver sped off. At that time, police say, he drove the wrong way on the interstate. The man finally crashed at US 31 near Bigs and fled on foot. He was eventually arrested in Memphis, Indiana.

Police say the suspect Charles F. Jackson, 42, has a warrant out for his arrest and that likely caused him to speed off.

We are told that Jackson is being transported to the Clark County jail.

Indiana State Police advised school officials to hold Henryville High School buses due to the ongoing pursuit.

According to the West Clark Community School Board Henryville High School was on lockdown for 10 minutes. The students have now been released.
