LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Henderson, Ky. family can check two items off their bucket list: front seats to the Rose Parade in California and a spot on national television to prove it.
Margaret Strawn's husband, Tony, surprised her with a trip to the parade in Pasadena, for her 60th birthday. When they arrived, they were greeted by the whole family, including relatives from China.
The birthday surprises didn't stop there. During the parade, ABC's John Naber spotted them in a crowd of thousands for a spotlight on live television.
"Why is the Rose Parade so special to people across the country?" Naber asked.
"I think because it's such a beautiful thing, it's natural. Everything is just gorgeous, it's wonderful!" Strawn said.
Coincidentally, the theme of the New Year's Day parade was "Dreams Come True."
