(WHAS11) - The search for survivors continues in Haiti following Tuesday's catastrophic earthquake and the rush to get help to those who need it.

Fundraising for earthquake victims in Haiti has been overwhelming and the methods in which people are helping has taken a creative turn.

Many in Louisville are sending donations through text messaging over their cell phone to help in relief efforts.

The Red Cross has found great success with this method.

The text makes a $10 donation to Haiti Earthquake Relief and it has set donation records.

Kids at area Jefferson County Public Schools are finding ways to get donations to survivors, including through text messaging.

Students at Western Middle School are raising funds and looking for community support in their endeavor. Today, they made posters and signs letting the public know about their project.

If you would like to text message a donation to the Red Cross you can text 909-99 and type in Haiti and the extra $10 charge will show up on your phone bill.
