LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Hardin County pastor is back with his father after searching for him for nearly 40 years.

Jimmy Squires found his father living on the streets in Bradenton, Florida, south of Tampa.

He found him last week after taking pictures of him to homeless shelters. After spotting him outside a pawn shop Squires spoke to him for about 15 minutes before finally telling him who he was.

The homeless man says his mind just snapped 38 years ago and that's why he left.

For now he's staying in Florida.

“I've followed you for 38 years cuz I missed ya and then I said I’m your son and he looked at me and we just on and talked and he shared a lot of things with me and I didn't want to push,” Squires said. “You could tell he was kind of anxious."
