LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Girl Scout cookie season is here!
Thousands of local Girl Scouts and troop leaders are picking up more than one and a half million boxes of cookies this week.
If you don't know a scout or didn't get a chance to order don’t worry. Scouts will be out at local stores, malls and businesses -- through mid-March. It's the biggest time of the year for scouts.
"This is our main product sale, our main fundraiser for the council that allows us to offer programming for the girls throughout the year. We're talking about $7 million worth of cookies being sold throughout this season," Karen Smallwood, Kentuckiana Girl Scouts Council, said.
The council gets proceeds from the cookie sales as do troops who use their money to pay for trips, activities and community service projects.
Cookies are $3.50 a box.
