LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Funeral services were held for a Western Kentucky University student shot and killed after a party in Louisville thanksgiving weekend.
The funeral was held at the Bates Memorial Baptist Church Tuesday just across the street from where she grew up, which are the demolished Sheppard’s Square projects. It was a crime ridden neighborhood where Williamson was able to overcome the challenges of the streets.
Family and friends say Cheryl Williamson’s life was so promising. Williamson, 24, was a fashion design major at WKU and was set to be the first person to graduate from college in her family this May.
Williamson was shot outside The Gillespie in downtown Louisville during the holiday weekend. She later died at University Hospital during surgery.
Her family and friends laid her to rest at the Louisville Cemetery on Popular Level Road.
