(WHAS11) – You know it as Fourth Street Live, but 30 years ago it was a much different project called The Galleria one that was supposed to be the savior of downtown.

The Galleria didn't have many great nights in its history, maybe except for opening night. WHAS TV produced a live special and we even provided the hosts: Tom Van Howe from Louisville Tonight, and the entertainment, his co-host Angie Humphrey who sang.

Hazel Miller sang the song “Look What We Can Do Louisville.” The mayor at the time was Harvey Sloane, and the Jefferson County judge executive was Mitch McConnell.

Louisville Mayor Dave Armstrong closed The Galleria during his term, and signed the deal to open Fourth Street Live in 2004, which reopened Fourth Street to cars.
