LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Former McMahan fire chief Paul Barth tells WHAS11's Terry Meiners he's nearly broke and that's he's not hiding money, in a one-on-one interview for Meiner's blog.
Barth is promising to repay the $200,000 to the WHAS Crusade for Children and admits he can't go anywhere in Louisville without the public scorning him.
Barth stunned federal prosecutors when he failed to repay the money to the organization, and bought a home on Barbour Lane with money he said he borrowed from his ailing mother.
According to Meiners, Barth said he has dental problems from grinding his teeth and is frightened about prison.
Barth will serve three years and five months for stealing money from the fire department which was intended for the WHAS Crusade for Children.
