(WHAS11) -- Clean up is underway after a fire started inside the Discount Tires in the Newburg neighborhood late Saturday night.
The Okolona Fire Chief told WHAS11 the fire started inside the Discount Tires in the 4000 block of Indian Trail near Poplar Level Road at around 10 p.m. Saturday. The fire then spread to the nearby salon called Major Styles, but that business sustained only heat damage.
The Okolona Fire Department called for backup because they were dealing with highly flammable tires inside.
Luckily, noone was hurt, which is due to the response of nearly half a dozen fire departments.
LG&E cut the power to nearby businesses and fire investigators are looking into witness reports of sparks from a transformer before the blaze as a possible cause.
Although clean up will be substantial, the business is not considered a total loss.
