LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The owner of Lynn’s Paradise Café, Lynn Winter, said contrary to internet rumors, she has no plans to re-open her restaurant, but she does have other plans for the property – to sell it.

She said Lynn’s is officially for sale and has several interested buyers who she won’t disclose.

“This is a good thing for Lynn’s,” Winter said.  “The only constant for Lynn’s was change and this is change.”

She said both the property and the “Lynn’s” brand is for sale but whether they go together will depend on the buyer. She declined to comment on reasons for its abrupt closure in January only to say that it was time to move on.

The flurry around the building recently which spawned those reports of its re-opening because it is being cleaned to prepare for the sale.  Winter said the property will be cleaned, repaired and the blacktop repaired to make way for a new buyer she hopes will continue the legacy of the popular restaurant.

“My hope is that a better restaurant opens there,” she said. “I hope it is something positive.  It’s the right time for someone else to take it to the next level. What we started wasn’t finished.”

Winter opened the restaurant in 1991 and it grew into a local – and national – landmark.  It was featured regularly on the Food Network, the Oprah Winfrey Show, Southern Living and countless others.  It is currently for sale and has no specific price tag.

Winter said she will be very involved in the choice of the buyer.

“It’s not bittersweet,” she said. “Because it’s not dead. It’s growing.”
