LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)--  It is officially crunch time for holiday shoppers how haven’t finished, or even started, their gift list.

Forget Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Free Shipping Day – they are history – but there is still one big shopping day left on the calendar and it is Super Saturday.

Research has led retailers to realize that discounts on the final Saturday before Christmas can boost shopping and help clear out inventory.

Online shopping allows shoppers to avoid last minute frenzies inside the store, but also puts them in risk of steep shipping fees and packages that don’t get delivered in time.

Look for a retailer with an in-store pickup option when shopping online, it will allow to bypass most of the in-store traffic, but you will not be able to avoid the parking lot.

For those shoppers who really push the time limit, extended store hours can also help.  Most Toys R Us stores will open around the clock, beginning Saturday morning through Tuesday evening.  Macy’s locations in major cities will be doing the same and Kohl’s will be open from Friday until Christmas Eve.

Happy shopping.
