LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Residents living in Cherokee Triangle have kicked off a campaign to restore Willow Park.
Monday's event started with a ribbon cutting and a time capsule burial.
Willow Park was constructed in the early 1900's but hadn't been updated for at least 30 years.
It's estimated the park needs $240,000 to get the improvements it needs.
Among the improvements needed are better lighting, new sidewalks and a state of the art electrical system to support the Summer concert series in the park.
