COLORADO (WHAS11) -- Firefighters in Colorado were forced to run for cover when a controlled fire spun out of control.

A dust devil swept over a fire causing a whirlwind of flame and smoke.

The firefighters had a planned fire for training but didn't expect a massive dust storm to interrupt.

The dust devil created a moving fire that headed straight for them.

It actually came so close that the firefighters had to make a run for cover.
