LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It's not just about Final Four shirts; this year it's also about sending well wishes to Kevin Ware.
Gray's College Bookstore just got a shipment of shirts.
“I just got them in this morning and I will be getting another shipment in tomorrow morning,” said a Gray’s Bookstore employee.
Clarence Bailey bought two shirts today, eager to represent Ware."He's probably going to be one of the all time favorites at U of L,” said Bailey.
A lifelong fan, Bailey is ready for another title. "It's been a long time since we've been this close,” said Bailey.
Actually it hasn't been. Last year the team was in the Final Four. But to many, this year just feels different. “I don't see how we can be stopped if we play as hard as we did the last two games. I don't see how anyone can stop us,” said U of L student Trevor Schultze.
The U of L band member was just a few feet away from the court when Ware was injured. Today he's buying a shirt to pay tribute to what he admires most about his peer.
“[It’s] his heart. He's not afraid to push forward. The first thing he tweeted was ‘I should have blocked that shot.’ He wanted to get back into the game,” said Schultze.
At Fourth Street fans are huddling in the cold signing a “Get Well” banner for Ware that will make the trip down to Atlanta. “Everybody in Louisville, Kentucky hopes the best for Kevin and we hope that he gets well soon. Take care Kevin,” said fan Diane Wilson.
Ware's unexpected injury has been tough, but the job is not done yet.
“Win it for Kevin man. Win it for Ware,” said 96.5 radio personality Keisha Nicole. Kevin said “win” so that's what fans are ready to do. ‘We are just gonna take it home..that's it. We gonna bring home the championship and bring home those rings. Cut the net,” said Nicole.
