A 14-year-old girl at Bullitt Central High School has a broken nose and bruised ribs.

Her injuries are from what school officials call a "pre-meditated attack” and they say the attacker had other students record the beating on their phones.

“My nose is broke, my ribs are bruised from her sitting on top of me and everybody was video taping it,” said Kaitlyn Hall.

She was in the Bullitt Central’s cafeteria Tuesday morning when she says she was jumped by a girl she barely knows.

“Before I know it I was on my stomach and she was sitting on my back with my hands behind me just beating my head into a table,” said Hall.

The attack was caught on video, someone sent it to her sister's phone.

A friend who saw it happen called Katilyn's mom.

“She told us we needed to get to the school right away that Katie had been jumped,” said Hall’s mother.

And someone called Katie’s sister who rushed in to the school.

“She was covered in blood , her clothes were bloody, her shoes were bloody everywhere was blood and I just hugged her and cried with her.”

School officials say the attack lasted several seconds and the attacker, is a 15-year-old girl.

Students have been suspended and they may be expelled.  Criminal charges are involved.

“I don't think she should be allowed back and I think the people who videotaped it should get more than just it deleted off their phones I think they need consequences.”

Another girl who recorded the fight has been suspended for 3 days and may face more punishment.  Others who recorded it may be suspended too.

“It makes me really upset because everybody was videotaping it and nobody was helping me,” said Hall.

Officials say they erased video on some cell phones but they're worried about the other videos that are circulating.

Bullitt Central's principal is planning a school wide meeting on violence and technology.

I'm so sorry that this child suffered this.My son had the same thing happen to him on the school bus last May. the bus cameras were off.but the kid who jumped him posted the video on youtube. whas11 did a story on that attack as well. At least Bullit Co is addressing the issue.when i told the principle of BHS that they needed to have an assembly addressing violence and technology i was told that would cause the kids to all want to talk about it. We have over $3000 in medical bills which the court didnt require to be repaid even though the boy pled guilty! ( They only require then to repay any money you have paid out of pocket---doesnt matter if you are un employed and uninsured and cant pay it out of pocket!!!) I also agree that the kids that set these incidents up should be dealt with more harshly. At least Bullit Co is considering expulsion in our case we were told " we can't deny this boy and education" and "do you give a kid a life sentence for one altercation?" My answer is YES!

Just wanted to add: at least Bullit Co called it a "pre-meditated attack" even though we showed the youtube video taped and posted by the attackers buddies to school officials other than sending the kid to A-school for a while never even admitted that it was a serious attack. We will be filing a civil suit in order to pay the medical bills. Again to the young lady that this happened to, my heart goes out to you. I felt sick when i saw the story becaause i know what our family has been through dealing with the emotional as well as financial fall out from a senseless act of violence.

This is awful! What gives anyone the right to think they can do this? I feel for the girl, and the girls family. Bardstown mom I feel for you, as well! (It is completly ridiculous that this inncident, happened, not just happened, but in my strong opinion Wasn't dealt with properly. I have lived in Bullitt County for many years. When I moved out here. I finished up my schooling in previous county. Over the summer, I made a lot of friends. However onced I started school here, not a one was in any of my classe's! This made it tough! Bulliness starts small usually. I was being bullied even though I was not physically touched. I was verbally abused, in many ways! This can be just a as upsetting! Day in ay out. I am sorry, but for each person, that does not get involved, someone somewhere along the way finds you. Most of the time. Unfortunately sometimes, too late! I quit school. I did get my Ged and went on to college!

I wanted to add, that I came from a school when there were 1,500 sudents with every kind of diversity, switched to a smaller school of at that time had 500 or less students, and never once did I have any proplem, at previous school. as I did at my so-called new and supposed to be improved school! I know this is everywhere. I guess my point is , I may expect more problems in a bigger school Probably the same thing personel thought about a smaller school. However smaller problems swept under the rug will create much bigger ones later! Come on now not one at the facility knew this girl was being picked at, or bullied even in a small way, until this all came down? I don't believe this! I have said for a long tome. I wished people in smaller towns would quit having these misconceptions. How many fights, threats, and even worse... sadly, suicides, does it take for the school, county officials, and community to get involved? One is too many! Something needs to be done!

My son has strict instructions from me that if ANYONE attacks him without provocation, he is to do everything in his power to cripple them for life or worse. I for one will not stand for anyone elses punk, thug, or otherwise useless undisciplined kids attacking mine. I am tired of the way kids talk to adults these days and I am tired of seeing this kind of thing in the news and at the same time the video games are not "games" they are violent interactive movies. It is time for parents to get back to hard punishments and spanking again. We see where we have ended up without it.

I wish besides site base councils, boards, schools independly thinking for theirself, everyone would pull together! When the board said something (when I was younger. that was it the schools went by the boards decisions! There are too many chiefs in charge! What really aggravates me is when a meeting is held usually site-base council. Most the time, not always, but most of the time very insignificant issues, are addressed! Its what do we do about Susie she wore a necklace to school? She broke a dress code violation, or what about little Johnny He forgot a belt. Don't get me wrong, I know rules are supposed, to be followed, and are designed for a purpose, but lets get back to reality, and address some issues, that are in real need of addressing. Such as Getting beat up at school and even isues, that extend farther then this! I pray for the families, that go though this. I have had some issues myself, with my own however, Thankfully not to this degree. Lets pull together.. every county!

If a person takes away your civil liberties, like not getting beaten up, then why would you insure his right to an education. Make them use private schools as well as any of those people taping it . Not just the one doing the beating but all involved. People it is time to start making people pay for their actions. Parents it is time to be parents. It is the parents responsiblilty to raise your children. It amazes me that people need a license to drive but any idiot can make a baby. Notice I did not say Father. Gow up people.

What these kids need to do that are being bullied to lash back at the thugs. Doesn't matter how you have to do it. That is the only way the bullies will ever understand. I was a slight and skinny child but I never let anyone bully me. The problem is now that the bullies don't get a good beat down from someone they are messing with. When I went to school, it was totally different. The school administrators pretty much try to tie the hands of people trying to defend themselves. With that type of mentality, its no wonder the bully problem has gotten worse. They let the kids run the schools these days because their rights might be violated by having to follow the rules. That and their parents are scared of the kids as well. Some of these parents are spineless as well.

The students "may be expelled"? Why is there any question???? The student that commited this act of violence should be automatically expelled. Also, the parents of the attacker should be forced by law to pay all medical expenses incurred. I just don't understand why this type of behavior is allowed to continue. There needs to be severe consequences for all involved!!

Also just one more added note...If it were up to me I would ban cell phones altogether in the public schools. The distractions and irresponsible use greatly outway the benefits of keeping in touch with our children. If your child is where they are supposed to be then there is no reason why you need to stay in constant communications with them. My gosh how did past generations ever make it through school without them?

purecountry said on November 19, 2009 at 12:12 PM

Chungking, Saywhat, and fulldraw...I agree. The kids getting bullied need to pick up a chair or ball bat and lay out the bully. When I was in school we got suspended for being involved in a fight even if we didn't hit back. If your going to get suspended at least defend yourself. If it means pounding a bully with a chair so be it. We call that an equalizer. I agree no phones in school. We didn't have them and we survived. The parents can contact the school in order to reach their kids. Kids can go to the office to reach their parents. Problem with that? Drop out or home school.

Thank You for all the supportive comments, I am Kaitlyn Hall's mother. Our family is devestated by what has happened to Kaitlyn. We are doing everything we can do to make sure this girl pays for what she has done to our daughter. Katie is still not doing well, she now has nightmares and cries all day and most of the night. We have arranged for counseling for her and we hope she will soon be better. Again, Thank You !!

purecountry said on November 19, 2009 at 8:50 PM

Kaitlynsmom... I would be more than happy to give free self defense training for your daughter when she recovers if she and you are so inclined. My Marine training along with Tae Kwon Doe training are quite effective. Not just physical training either, but also training her to be aware of her surroundings and potential threats. Prayers going out for your family.

I wonder why they've turned off comments for the WHAS news story about violence and cell phones in schools???? I met w/ the social worker today that will make recommendation for the punishment of the punk who attacked my son. I showed her the 8 x 10 pix of his injuries, the $3000 worth of med bills & collections notices & my son told her what happened to him, I do not feel that justice will be served. If they wont ban cell phones then they should @ least make it clear that if your phone is used in the commission of a crime like this you will be expelled. no questions asked! I still can not believe that even tho the punk that attacked my son PLED GUILTY they still do not have to pay those med bills! My son's almost 6' tall and he could have taken that kid down. When asked if threw any punches my son said " No. I intend to go to college, if I did that I could get expelled.i won't be brought down to to that level." I am SO proud of him!

Cell phones are not allowed to be on during school hours but, they are always on and put on silent, they use the camera feature to capture moments like this and they only get it taken away for the day, sometimes if they refuse to give it up the teachers just walks away not wanting the confrontation so most of the students do what they want knowing that nothing will happen to them. Expelled *ha ha* that is the biggest joke what give them a mini vacation? Send their bad butts to day treatment or another alternative school don't reward with a mini vacation...The parents are the problem, they give into these kids because they are afraid to be the adult, they want to be friends with them instead, the teachers can't discipline, they will be out of a job because the parents say you can't talk to my child that way, maybe if the parents made it tougher on the kids we would not have this in our schools.

Thanks to everyone for your support I am Kaitlyns aunt. It's a real shame that you can't send your kids to school anymore and assume they are safe. School is the last place you should have to worry about your kids being. All of the kids involved in this should be expelled , and as far as the cell phones go I don't personally think they should be allowed in school it causes to much distraction and trouble. I hope this girl is punished to the full extint possible, if she were my daughter she would be in so much trouble she wouldn't see the outside world for a very long time. I wonder how she would feel if someone did the same thing to her. What comes around goes around !!!!

To "Purecountry", I tried last month to leave a comment here and the comments for this had been closed. I would love to take you up on the offer of self defense lessons for Kaitlyn. My email address is marks_girl35@yahoo.com Kaitlyn had surgery on her nose 2 weeks ago . She has also started counseling. There is still alot of tears and nightmares, but with all the support she has hopefully things will get back to normal one day.
