LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Two days until Louisville businessman Matt Bevin officially launches a Tea Party primary challenge to Republican incumbent Mitch McConnell. His campaign is already firing back at McConnell, whose campaign has called him a "con man."
A Bevin spokesperson says McConnell is bringing up a government grant Bevin received to help rebuild his factory because McConnell doesn't want to talk bailouts he voted for in the senate.
Bevin personally guaranteed a forgivable loan to help rebuild his family's historic bell factory after it burned in 2012.
The grant was tied to a number of jobs at the Connecticut factory.
Meanwhile, U.S. Senator Rand Paul reiterated his endorsement of McConnell on Monday, July 22, yet said he was not discouraging Bevin from running.
