Here's a look at my trip to the 38th AMS Conference on Broadcast Meteorology in Miami Beach, Florida. Basically, a bunch of geeks on a beach!
Meteorology - the study of weather - is an evolving science with new technologies and advancements each day, so it is important for a meteorologist to stay as up-to-date as possible. That's why we attend these conferences. Having the AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal also forces us to learn more because we lose our "Seal of Approval", if we don't receive continuing education.
We did have some down time at the conference, and it worked out great because my brother has a place just a little north of Miami in Boca Raton. So, I got to stay for free! Fishing, golfing, and playing on the beach are all fun, but the experience is what's most important (I'm not just saying that because my boss will read this).
This was my first time to Miami, and it's like a whole other world down there. It really feels more like a Caribbean island, than part of the continental United States. I'm sure glad it is part of the US, because I plan to go back... next time with the family in tow!
Enjoy the pictures, I even added captions.
