LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Restaurant Week is coming to town to tempt your taste buds without breaking the bank. The ten day event in late February is all about getting locals and visitors out to some of Louisville’s hottest restaurants featuring foods from area farms.
Food aficionados are raving about Louisville's restaurant scene catapulting the region to a "foodies paradise." Now you can sample the city's finest at a fixed price during 502 Restaurant Week.
"The restaurant options here are amazing. We just love the restaurants in Louisville," resident
Colleen Quinter said.
The 10-day event was announced Monday at Harvest on Market Street. More than 30 restaurants are participating. They will offer three course menus at a special rate of $50.20 cents for couples.
"So that's our ultimate goal for 502 Restaurant Week, support the restaurant industry and to give diners just a great opportunity to try new restaurants and get a wonderful value for their money," Belinda Gates, the founder of 502 Restaurant Week said.
"We pass them all the time going to the KFC Yum Center and we are like, 'I have to go there.' But they can get pricey so that sounds like a good deal, " resident Holly Francis said.
Restaurant weeks are staples around the country. It is a chance to showcase many of the local farmers that supply produce to Louisville restaurants.
"Our whole local scene, farmers, farmer's market, the local agricultural scene here is as healthy as any in the world. In some areas we are leading," Mayor Greg Fischer said.
Organizers say this kick-off year is just the beginning. Look for restaurants to join all over the 502 area code, from Bardstown to Shelbyville to Frankfort.
Make reservations early because many of the most popular restaurants get booked up. Restaurant week runs from February 22 through March 3. Click here for more information.
