(KMOV) – A copper thief in Arizona was arrested after an air condition repair man found some incriminating evidence left at the scene of a crime.

The Arizona repairman was baffled when he discovered the severed finger tip of the thief at the end of a copper spool line connected to his truck.

"I can't believe he didn't come back and get the finger, I would've come back and got the finger."

Authorities say the thief probably grabbed the wire and his finger became stuck as he drove away.

Following an investigation, the severed tip led police right to the thief.

“They took a popsicle stick and were able to attach it to that finger and they were able to roll that finger and get a print on that finger.”

Authorities say the fingerprint matched the 29-year-old suspect, who even posted a photo of his severed finger on Facebook.

The suspect has been charged and the finger is being kept for evidence.
