LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Hundreds of people participate in the Papa John's 10 Miler each year. It is the third and final leg of the Triple Crown of Running. It starts at Third Street, near Churchill Downs, winds down Southern Parkway and through Iroquois Park before runners loop back to end on the 50-yard line at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
The winners in the men's and women's category both broke course records this year.
"I was so excited I just sprinted the whole lap, like I didn't even hear it. I'm close to breaking the record, so I just sprinted the last 200 or so and after I finish it, they say I broke the course record," said Marion Kanie, who broke the previous record for the women's division with a time of 57 minutes and 16 seconds.
The Papa John's 10 Miler winner from last year also won this year. Pius Nyantika finished with a time of 47 minutes and 25 seconds.
