SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- A woman has been arrested for allegedly hitting a 10-year-old girl who refused to share her ice cream with her daughter.
Amanda Russel was playing with some children on Saturday when she refused to share her ice cream with a 4-year-old girl who tried to grab the ice cream sandwich.
The older girl began walking home but the mother of the 4-year-old, Talysa Herron, approached and hit her in the face. She then followed her home in her car.
"She hit me open handed right here," said the young Russel, as she grabbed the left side of her face.
The 10-year-old's mother, Cyndi Lafontaine, confronted Herron but was herself punched and beaten until police were called. She said Herron punched her in the head over 20 times.
"I don't have the right to hit my own kid ... Why did you hit my kid?" Lafontaine said. "It sure don't give her the right, and it don't give her the right to hit her own kid."
Herron has been charged with injury to a child.
