LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A big gift was given Friday for Kentucky children with spinal cord injuries.

Kosair Charities donated $7.3 million for locomotor training.

UofL gave $2.7 million.

The training uses a harness and a treadmill to re-teach the nerves in the spinal cord to walk.

The money will help support the work of one of its pioneers with children, Dr. Andrea Behrman, who came to UofL from the University of Florida.

The $10 million will help create endowed chairs.

One will be for Dr. Behrman and the other will help recruit another leading scientist.
