SHELBY COUNTY, Ky. (WHAS11) – Just before 9 p.m. Friday Shelby County authorities responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on I-64 eastbound at the 37 mile marker.
The accident occurred when a passenger car traveling east drifted off the roadway and struck a pedestrian and two vehicles that were in the shoulder emergency lane. The pedestrian was attempting to remove a disabled vehicle from the interstate and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Shelby County Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the passenger car was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was not transported to the hospital.
Names of all parties involved are not being released at this time.
The accident is still under investigation and toxicology reports are pending.
