(WHAS11) - All signs point to the European version of the Ford Focus, which shares a platform with several other vehicles that could also be produced on a new flexible manufacturing system.

It's part of Ford’s shift away from truck production to cars, as published reports say Ford will transform three North American truck plants into car plants.
Changes at Michigan Truck Plant will move production of two large SUV’s to the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville.
The Wall Street Journal reports the Expedition and Navigator will join Super Duty Truck production at KTP. While all are gas guzzlers, analysts believe a core market exists that needs the towing capability offered by the larger vehicles.
U.S. automakers are scrambling to adjust to market demands amid high gas prices and a sour economy.
Ford says it will announce ”changes to the overall plan” during a conference call Thursday morning.
UAW Local 862 President Rocky Comito says he does not know the details so he would not comment.
But WHAS11 News has learned that Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson expects Ford to brief him before the 9 a.m. conference call Thursday, yet another indication that Ford’s announcement will directly affect Louisville plants.
