Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - University of Louisville wide receiver Jajuan Spillman is still in jail after his second recent arrest.
Spillman is facing charges very familiar to him.
Plenty of people are upset about the arrest, because not only is Spillman a stand-out wide receiver for the Louisville Cardinals, he also grew up here and at one time was a shining example for local kids.
Now, he has been released from the Cardinal football team and, "will not have a chance to return", said Head Coach Steve Kragthorpe.
On the football field, Jajuan Spillman has all the right moves. He ranked 11th in the nation at one time in average kick-off return yardage.
But in recent months, things haven’t been going well off the field.
Today Spillman was in court facing multiple charges. Some of those charges are nearly the same as the ones he was charged with early last year.
Spillman will soon have to answer to a judge about the latest charges, as well as a coach who was out of the country on vacation when the latest arrest happened.
Spillman was granted a 2,500 dollar bond and house arrest.
He will also not be allowed to have a firearm as a condition of his release.
Spillman’s case has been assigned to the same judge who heard the earlier marijuana possession and DUI case.
