Inside they made a grim discovery—the bodies of six hostages, including 29-year old Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his 28-year-old wife Rivka .

Their son Moishe Holtzberg is now left with no parents the day before his second birthday.

Moishe was rescued by his nanny, who rushed him to safety after the toddler was found crying, covered in blood.

The child was not harmed and is being cared for by his grandparents.

In the Crown Heights neighborhood where Rabbi Holtzberg grew up, men gathered to say prayers of mourning and remember the young couple who were devoted to spreading their faith.

Gavriel Holtzberg moved to India from Brooklyn five years ago.

He and his wife Rivka were part of the Lubavich sect, which supports thousands of Jewish missionaries around the world.

As part of their work in Mumbai, Rabbi Holtzberg performed weddings and taught classes while his wife hosted tourists for Shabbat dinners.

They also ran outreach programs for drug addicts and the poor.

Their work, their friends say, that will inspire others.
