(WHAS11) - There is no shortage of things going on in Louisville this Sunday.
People will be driving to the big U of L/UK football game, the flea market at the fairgrounds and the Ironman competition.
Roads will be closed and drivers may be stuck in traffic.
WHAS11's Renee Murphy talked with police as they unveiled their safety plan for this very busy weekend.
Police say the best advice for getting around town on Sunday is, use the interstate.
Third Street is going to be shut down from downtown through southern parkway down to new cut.
It’s a long stretch and some residents are concerned about the closure.
Others are welcoming the Ironman Race, U of L/UK game and the flea market all happening around the fairgrounds, even if it means a little inconvenience for them.
Louisville police say over 400 officers will be working the Ironman competition this weekend.
They will have officers at every intersection on the running course.
That course is 26 miles, stretching from Waterfront Park down Third Street to New Cut Road. But the roads will be open for the bike course from Waterfront Park up River Road to 42 through Oldham County.
Drivers will have to deal with 2,400 cyclists on the road.
