More families to receive assistance this winter through LIHEAP

04:44 PM EDT on Friday, October 10, 2008

Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - Today Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear announced more families will receive assistance this winter.

It’s part of the low income home energy assistance program or LIHEAP.

Beshear teamed up with Congressman John Yarmuth and Mayor Abramson for the announcement.

This year Kentucky will receive more than $68 million dollars in federal funds.

Right now work is in progress on how that funding will be distributed.

Last year LIHEAP helped nearly 174,000 Kentucky families.

If you need assistance the deadline to register is November 3rd .
