At a press conference, Gov. Ernie Fletcher said Monday he would issue
pardons to current and former members of his administration charged in
Attorney General Greg Stumbo's investigation into hiring practices in
the state's merit system.
Fletcher also said he would appear before the grand jury Tuesday, but
would not testify.
Comparing the attorney general’s indictments to “noodling out of
season,” Fletcher delivered his pardons in a room full of supporters,
who cheered and applauded throughout the press conference. At least six
of the nine individuals indicted by the grand jury were at the
conference.
