08:47 PM EST on Friday, December 12, 2008
New research finds that giving patients an “exercise prescription” can get them moving.
2/3 of Americans do not get the recommended amount of physical exercise.
A new study suggests a written exercise prescription can help people become more active.
Researchers recruited one thousand women. Half received no instructions, while others received prescriptions.
After 1 year, 43 percent of women who received prescriptions were getting the recommended 30 minutes of exercise per week.
