LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- More than a hundred lucky ticket winners got quite a Halloween treat early this morning.

These ghost seekers won a ticket to Waverly Hills on 102.3 The Max.

Each guest got a guided tour through what paranormal investigators have dubbed one of the most haunted buildings in the country.

They all came ready with their cameras trying to get a glimpse of the supernatural. Thousands come here every year hoping for a close encounter.

“A lot of people, even though they say they don’t believe in the paranormal, the curiosity that maybe it could be true, and usually when they come through Waverly, a lot of people who didn’t believe are believers,” says tour guide Mike Flickner.

Waverly Hills was built in the early 1900s and was a tuberculosis hospital. More than 63,000 people died there. It was shut down in 1980. On Wednesday, the Sci-Fi Network will be broadcasting a live ghost hunt from Waverly at 9 p.m.

"Everybody here at Waverly Hills Historical Society put together a haunted house this year, and we have $10,000 raised for the Crusade for Children," says Charlie Mattingly.

He and the crew at Waverly worked throughout the month of October providing thrills for fans of Halloween and raising money through the haunted house, and today they gave quite a treat to the WHAS Crusade for Children.

"It's just something we like to give to the community and to the Crusade,” says Danny Fife. “It's just a good thing to do, I believe."

Thus far, the Waverly Hills crew has raised over $70,000 for the Crusade.
