Century-old, locally-owned Baer Fabrics has officially closed its doors
09:08 PM EDT on Saturday, July 19, 2008
Employees were told just Thursday of the plan to close, and some customers say the owner called them to let them know they would be shutting down.
The third-generation store owner, Stuart Goldberg, declined any comment to WHAS, but customers shopping there for the last time on Saturday said it’s a sad day for the city of Louisville.
Baer Fabrics opened its doors in 1905; first as a men’s suit manufacturing business. It then expanded to include women’s clothing, tailoring supplies, upholstery, awnings, plus costume and theater supplies.
