EMT assaulted at fairgrounds
01:59 PM EDT on Monday, April 23, 2007
Bullitt County authorities are searching for two men they say attacked an EMT.
Police say the attack happened about 1 a.m. Monday at the bullitt County Fairgrounds, where 42 year old martha corbin was sitting in an ambulance in between EMS calls.
She says two guys opened the side doors of the vehicle and dragged her outside, yelling and screaming for morphine.
Martha is at home resting now. She has a dislocated jaw, broken ribs, a concussion and knife cuts on her arm.
“You are out there, you’re running your shift, you’re here to take care of people and wait for the next call… This happens, and you just don't expect it,” says EMS Director Mike Phillips.
Police say EMTs don't have morphine in their vehicles. Police say they are hoping they can pull some fingerprints from the suspects from items they rummaged through in the ambulance.
