Former UK basketball player shares story of drug addiction

Since the 1980s, the name Rex Chapman has been synonymous with UK basketball. His rise to fame came during a two-year stint at UK, where he scored more than a thousand points. But when Chapman landed in Sports Illustrated a few years ago, it was because of a shoplifting arrest at an Apple Store in Arizona. It was after that he admitted to a narcotics addiction that had lasted over 15 years. He entered a Louisville rehab program in 2014 and is now sharing his story of recovery at The Healing Place’s ‘Celebrate Freedom Dinner’. The dinner will be Saturday, March 11th at the Marriott Downtown. A few tickets are still available for the event. You can get them online at TheHealingPlace.org/CFD or by calling (502) 357 – 1995.
