In case you needed a reason to start chanting “USA, USA” a few days early, some important news: The U.S. Women’s National Team took on France in a friendly in Hartford, Ct. So no, it wasn’t the World Cup and the match didn’t mean that much but something very important for all fans of the USWNT happened: Alex Morgan looked like her old self again.

Morgan, better known to some as “Baby Horse”, had been sidelined since the end of 2013 with nagging injuries. But on Thursday against France she came into the game at halftime and scored two goals for the U.S. The game ended in a 2-2 draw.

The game was the second time this week that the U.S. has played France. In a June 14th game, Hope Solo tied Briana Scurry’s shutout record in a 1-0 win in Florida. Morgan also made an appearance in that game but did not score.

After being sidelined for eight months, Morgan made her return to the pitch earlier this month in a game for her NWSL team.
