LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – A man says he saw what happened the night of an alleged fight involving the University of Louisville basketball player, Preston Knowles, and Knowles’ girlfriend’s stepfather.
The man says he's planning to talk to Bullitt County investigators about what he witnessed.
WHAS11s Anna Prendergast reported from the Bullitt County neighborhood where the alleged fight happened.
University of Louisville basketball player Preston Knowles and his girlfriend's step-father are telling much different stories to Bullitt County investigators.
The man accusing Knowles of punching him in the face told detectives that Knowles was having a verbal argument his girlfriend on Sunday night during a cook-out outside a house in the Miller's Crossing neighborhood.
The stepfather says when he went to intervene, Knowles punched him 3 times in the face.
Preston Knowles has not been charged and investigators say he is calling the whole thing self-defense.
WHAS11 News found a man who lives just feet from where the alleged fight happened.
The man did not want to go on-camera but says he’s being interviewed by detectives on Friday about what he saw.
He says he saw Knowles’ girlfriend hitting Knowles outside the house, and he then saw the step-father walk out and start swinging at Knowles.
The witness at this point says that's when Knowles also swung back and a fight started.
WHAS11 News also talked to people living in the neighborhood who didn't see it but say they heard people screaming.
