LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) - Russ Smith: the man, the myth, the legend. His basketball skills are superhuman. Some would say they’re mythical. It’s part of the reason why his nickname is Russdiculious.

Wednesday, the University of Louisville senior guard went in search of truly mythical creatures at the Frazier History Museum. He found Big Foot, unicorns, mermaids and more.

While he was there, he visited with about 40 children participating in the Frazier Museum Summer Camp. He competed in a mythical creatures game show, answered questions and signed autographs.

On social media, Russ Smith is known as #TheMyth. He said that hashtag came from a trip to the zoo with his friends. They visited some animals they’d never seen before and questioned whether they were even real. From there the conversation turned to how unreal the 2012-2013 basketball season was for Smith, hence the nickname, “The Myth.”

“Sometimes I feel like things that I do sometimes is like, did that just happen? Or did he just get away with that?” Smith said Wednesday, when asked if he sees himself as a mythical creature.

There’s no question Smith is talented. But is he magical?

Ten-year-old Konnor Groemling says there’s no way Smith gets to be in the same category as unicorns and Big Foot. Groemling says, “He’s totally real, because I just got my autograph from him.”
