LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Autographed material from college athletes has been the newest phenomena plaguing college athletics.

According to NCAA bylaw 12.5.2.1, no student-athlete can accept money for promotional purposes nor advertise or promote products. By doing so, it can interfere with their athletic eligibility.

In recent events surrounding Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel, Coach Charlie Strong and officials with the University of Louisville decided nixing autographs at Sunday’s fan day.

The move didn’t stop faithful fans from showing up at the football practice to get a look at the Cardinals.

Everything was done in classic Cards fashion and attendees treated it like game day. To fans, it didn’t matter, it was all about the excitement while supporting their favorite team.
