LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)—On Monday evening a local team played for an AAU National Championship.
The Ville, with many local players, including recent Card commit Ray Spalding, won their semi-finals match earlier in the day, then returned to Freedom Hall to play for the title.
The team was able to play in their home city for a national championship and they took care of business on the court.
"It means a lot,” David Levitch, The Ville AAU coach said. “We planned for this at the beginning of the AAU season at the beginning of April. These guys worked hard, we played in some tough tournaments and when we knew the tournament was going to be held here in Louisville, this was our goal."
The Ville defeated City Rocks 46-40 to take home the title.
"It's very special and very exciting to sit here with my family and win it all. It really means a lot because they don't get to come to many of my games and for some of my fans to able to watch me play, it's just a real honor," Spalding said.
