Louisville football student-athletes Will Stein and Alex Kupper are the newest Cardinals’ representatives in the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, which recognizes college football student-athletes who maintain a 3.2 grade point average or better. The two Louisville award winners are part of a group of 703 college football student-athletes from 259 schools to qualify for membership in the society.
A four-time BIG EAST All-Academic selection, Stein appeared in all 13 games, making one start in the 20-17 win over Rutgers, which clinched the Cardinals’ second-straight BIG EAST title and a trip to the Sugar Bowl. The product of Trinity High, Stein threw for 131 yards during the season, but was largely considered one of the team’s leaders.
Kupper earned second team All-BIG EAST accolades after starting all 13 games at left tackle. A native of Louisville, Ky., Kupper closed out a stellar career by starting 26 consecutive games at each of the offensive line positions.
Both Stein and Kupper are currently enrolled in the MBA program at Louisville.
