LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- I literally couldn't believe my eyes. Kevin Ware was walking to the scorers table. It was a moment I knew I would eventually see, but sometimes nothing can prepare you for what will follow.

In a typical Rick Pitino move where the media were told Ware would dress and warmup against Pikeville but not play, the Cards head coach played by his own set of rules.

The ovation was something out of a Hollywood movie. His play in the first few minutes was also something that could have been scripted. Ware was a little tentative and feeling his way. But in perfect Tinseltown fashion Ware rose up to take his first shot and his three was nothing but net. You couldn't help but cheer, even from press row where that sort of thing is frowned upon.

I was there in Indianapolis when Ware broke his leg in the Elite 8. I heard Rick Pitino tell Coach K the bone went through the skin. I saw the horrid reaction from players and fans alike. A moment that will never be forgotten.

Ware's stat line: 6 points and 5 rebounds in 10 minutes of action. In the future his numbers and his stats will matter but not on this night. A simple 15 foot walk is also a moment I will never forget.
