LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Louisville President James Ramsey said Friday he is standing by his decision to endorse Bobby Petrino.
President Ramsey said in an interview with WHAS11 Friday that most of the reaction he has received personally has been positive, but he knows he has his critics about the decision.
Ramsey says the athletics department has a good track record with graduating student athletes and a good track record with the NCAA when it comes to violations.
He says bringing Petrino back doesn't mean winning at all costs. He says it's about giving a man a second chance.
Ramsey says Petrino also has accountability measures in place for himself, and the university has its own with of all its hires.
He says after talking with petrino personally, he doesn't think it's a risky hire.
