It's what's weighing on the minds of many UofL fans now, will Charlie Strong be the next football coach?

UofL Athletic Director Tom Jurich spent several hours meeting with the Florida’s defensive coordinator Sunday.

The pursuit of Charlie Strong is on.  UofL Sports Information Director, Kenny Klein, told WHAS11’s Gary Fogle Monday that Jurich did meet with Stong.  ESPN.com is reporting that Jurich has not yet made an offer to Strong and will likely speak with him by phone Tuesday and possibly Wednesday.

Strong is in his eighth season as the defensive coordinator at the University of Florida.  The Gators defense led the country in total defense going into this past weekend.

However, Alabama’s spanking of the Gators in the SEC championship game on Saturday night has dropped the Gators to fourth in overall total defense.

Strong makes approximately $300,000 dollars per year but its expected Florida to sweeten that pot in hopes of keeping him.
