LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Louisville Metro Police is placing command posts and extra officers in key areas of the city tonight learning from both UK’s celebration last year and what they saw on Saturday night after the Cardinals victory.
Police say the majority of the arrests over the weekend were on West Broadway with cruising and parties.
Large fights involving teenagers, a stolen car and a number of guns fired in the air are some of the concerns police have.
In total, there were 9 arrests on Broadway with charges ranging from disorderly conduct, menacing and theft by receiving.
An estimated 200 officers will be all around the city but most will be on Broadway, which will have restricted access to vehicles. They will start arriving at their posts at 8:30 p.m. to prevent a repeat of Saturday night.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, University of Louisville Campus and Metro Corrections will all be helping LMPD monitor citywide celebrations.
