LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Rick Pitino called in this morning to the Boston area radio show ‘Toucher & Rich’ to promote  his new book ‘One Day Contract.’  After saying good morning to the hosts Pitino was told he stinks and was hung up on before getting out another word. His appearance lasted one second.

Why would you do something like this? The most common response is it’s ‘entertainment.’ Really. Disrespecting a Hall of Fame coach is entertainment? I’m not trying to be a stick in the mud. I would get it if they wanted to do a bit making fun of Pitino by having someone in studio or on the phone playing the Cards head coach. For instance, I thought Jimmy Kimmel making fun of Kanye West was hilarious. People hit the airwaves and often times use the excuse of their actions as ‘for the sake of entertainment’ or ‘it’s just an act.’ The WWE is an act, it’s people pretending with other people. If you are setting out to humiliate somebody in real life then you’re just a horrible human being.

Another sad part of the story is the interview that didn’t take place. This was a perfect chance for Boston fans who are clearly still bitter with Pitino and the way he ran the Celtics to get some closure. Unfortunately we will never know how the interview would have turned out.

The bad part, these guys are getting a ton of attention. I mean I’m writing this column right now because of two knuckleheads who tried to embarrass the Cards head coach.  However, I doubt they’ll be able to book many big name guests in the future. I hope it was worth it boys.
